Nexus Collections Survey Lists Conference Bags Leader of Promotional Goods for Events

7/1/2010 - In a recent survey undertaken by Nexus Collections, 23 percent of respondents identified Conference / Exhibition Bags to be the most effective branding opportunity available.

Nick Jones, Nexus Collections managing director, said, “Naturally we were overjoyed to see that conference bags, our primary product, are still considered the most effective by conference and exhibition organisers. When encouraged to provide more information, most individuals feel that it is the bag’s longevity that makes them such good branding opportunities – particularly on the higher quality bags, which you frequently see at subsequent events, meetings or even just used by individuals as everyday briefcases!”

Pens, notepads and lanyards were all popular as well, with around 10% of the vote each. Jones continues, “Like the conference bags, both the pens and notepads have longevity with many delegates taking them away and using them on into the future. I can also appreciate the popularity of lanyards as they are so visible at events, every delegate and member of the team sees not just their own, but the hundreds around them as well.”

Lawmakers Eyeing National ID Card

Lawmakers are proposing a national identification card — what they’re calling “high-tech, fraud-proof Social Security cards” — that would be required for all employees in the United States.

The proposal by Sen. Charles Schumer (D-New York) and Sen. Lindsay Graham (R-South Carolina) comes as the states are grappling to produce another national identification card at the behest of the Department of Homeland Security. Virtually none of the states are in compliance with this Real ID program — adopted in 2005 — requiring state motor vehicle bureaus to obtain and internally scan and store personal information like Social Security cards and birth certificates for a national database.

A national ID card in 2010?

A new attempt at immigration reform may require a biometric ID card for all working Americans. Privacy advocates aren't pleased.

Would it be an invasion of privacy to make all Americans carry an ID, complete with their fingerprints? Photo: Corbis

National identification cards, long feared by privacy advocates, may soon become mandatory for American workers. In an bipartisan effort to curb the hiring of illegal immigrants, Sens. Charles Schumer (D-NY) and Lindsey Graham (R-SC) have proposed legislation that, if passed, will require all working Americans to carry biometric ID cards containing fingerprint records and other personal information.

Plan to rob Sri Lanka ID cards

Plan to rob ID cards

Certain opposition political parties have a plan to rob the National Identity Cards belonging to voters by threatening them in certain areas which are politically advantageous for the UPFA candidate at the forthcoming Presidential Election, said Education Minister Susil Premajayantha addressing a meeting organized by Tharuna Aruna III Independent Graduates Union held in Colombo.

The Minister said this matter had been brought to the notice of the Elections Commissioner.

There is a certain political party notorious for this robbery behind the scene. The people are still aware of those who robbed their identity cards during the 1988-89 period. Therefore it is the duty of everybody to protect the voting rights of the people, the Minister said.

It was President Mahinda Rajapaksa who cleared the way for Ranil Wickremesinghe to go around the country despite the fact that the latter gave part of the country to the LTTE through the Ceasefire Agreement of 2002. Today the JVP which started the violence in 1971 and 1988/89 has joined forces with the UNP which, in turn, put 60,000 youth on tyre pyres. Both Ranil and Somawansa are the founders of the then terror period and are now bosom friends, the Minister said.
